Tom, it may warm your heart to learn that the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has cut costs and improved service delivery in rural areas with a low-cost Multi-station Linux Desktop model - http://www.omni-ts.com/success/linux-desktops-government.htm...

Our South African distributor started with a 13-city pilot. It has now been extended to 50 sites and the strategy has been officially approved by SASSA.
