That sound strange since Honeywell's Process Data Historian is based on Windows & its Advanced Process Control and data acquisition also run on Windows. Honeywell's Process Information Systems used to be VMS based.

Sounds like either customers are demanding Android/Linux or something is wrong with or lacking in existing Windows embedded.

May be the next step is to migrate all to Linux since reliability, security, uptime, and data are very important and critical in a factory or refinery setting.

Either way, let the best device win.
