Go to your local computer store -- or go online -- and buy a new laptop HD. Remove the drive that is infested with Superfish and stick in a drawer -- in case you need to return the laptop to a repair center and they'll only work with the original Windows OS. Install the new HD. Get out your Linux media and install from scratch. Done.

Warranties?

Are they really worth the paper they're printed on?

Yes, they are. I've never had a warranty dis-honored. I've even had a couple graciously extended to cover me when they had expired.
