Is Mark ready to trade his benevolent dictator status for cash already?

@Steven_R,

Tentative rebuttals aside, many of us probably KNEW this was inevitable for the cash-hungry "new M$" dictator and his minions..... ::yawn::

If you thought Canonical was bad before as an Ltd., just wait until they are a publicly traded company that is FORCED to become profitable no matter what it takes.

Here's a look at what Canonical and Ubuntu will probably resemble not long after the IPO: http://www.redhat.com/en

Debian will always be there for us. Mark can do whatever he wants with his company. I stopped caring some time ago, once I realized that his opinion is the only one that matters in the supposed "Ubuntu Community".

Considering the controversy regarding Riddell and being told to "step aside" from any leadership role with Kubuntu, would it really be a good idea to have an IPO at this point? If Shuttleworth wants his vision to be unveiled, he'll want to remain in control. With shareholders, that becomes more difficult.
