Seems to me that Linux Mint has REMAINED number 1 on DistroWatch.com for consecutive years on end for a definite reason! And that's true whether its for the "flavors" Cinnamon, MATE, Xfce, GNOME or KDE.

Linux Mint Cinnamon has been my primary for several years now. It's what I install for others as well. I get very few support calls afterwards.

And even if Canonical keeps neglecting Ubuntu on the desktop, Mint could always make LMDE their primary version, based directly from Debian.

I agree! Linux Mint Cinnamon has been my main OS for a few years now and I see no reason to change to anything else. The only thing I do is disable the Mint modification scripts for the software.
