The Neptune team is proud to announce the release of Neptune 3.0 'Brotkasten'. This release features the Linux kernel 3.8.4 and is exclusively meant to run on 64-bit CPUs. We switched the Debian base from 'Testing' to 'Wheezy' to provide a more stable and better experience. The KDE Plasma Desktop ships with version 4.10.1. Chromium was updated to version 25, Icedove to version 10.0.12, GIMP 2.8.2, Kdenlive 0.9.4, Amarok 2.7, VLC 2.0.5. We ship the latest and greatest multimedia codecs pre-installed as well as the Flash Player. For wireless diagnosis we ship Wireshark, Aircrack-ng and kismon.

CAINE and NBCAINE 4.0 'Pulsar' are out. Changelog: Linux kernel 3.2, LibreOffice 4.0.1, Sqliteman, remote file system mounter, sdparm, netdiscover, NirSoft Launcher with FTK imager and sysinternals tools, new RBFstab and Mounter. Rbfstab is a utility that is activated during boot or when a device is plugged in. It writes read-only entries to /etc/fstab so devices are safely mounted for forensic imaging and examination. It is self installing with 'rbfstab -i' and can be disabled with 'rbfstab -r'. It contains many improvements over past rebuildfstab incarnations. Rebuildfstab is a traditional means for read-only mounting in forensics-orient distributions.

With this second release of 'Benz' (a code name that will follow the KDE SC 4.10 series), the Chakra project team is very happy to announce a new feature that has been on the wishlist for quite some time. Tribe (the installer) has a 'netinstall' feature implemented, giving the user the option for a regular offline install, or install fully updated packages, starting with a minimal functional KDE desktop, and adding groups of packages to that minimal install as desired. KDE SC is updated to 4.10.1. The over 100 recorded bug fixes since 4.10.0 include improvements to the Kontact personal information management suite, and the KWin window manager.

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of CentOS 6.4 install media for i386 and x86_64 architectures. CentOS 6.4 is based on the upstream release EL 6.4 and includes packages from all variants. All upstream repositories have been combined into one, to make it easier for end users to work with. There are many fundamental changes in this release, compared with the past CentOS 6 releases, and we highly recommend that everyone study the release notes as well as the upstream technical notes about the changes and how they might impact your installation. Everyone who has centos-cr repositories enabled and in use would already be running CentOS 6.4 as of two weeks ago.

Wary, our edition of Puppy for older computers, has now reach version 5.5 (along with Racy, that we think of as 'Wary on steroids', intended for not-so-old hardware). Most of the system libraries and some major applications have not been upgraded since 5.3, but a lot of smaller applications and utilities have, notably those created 'in house' by our very enthusiastic developers. What really has progressed significantly since 5.3 is the Woof infrastructure, bringing a plethora of bug fixes and enhancements. These improvements have made it imperative to release a new Wary (and Racy).

We are pleased to announce the update of OS4 OpenDesktop. OpenDesktop is the leading provider of cutting-edge Linux desktop technology to the masses. With this release we encompass stability and functionality. Some of the changes we have made in OS4 OpenDesktop 13.3 is that we have cleaned it up quite a bit, so legacy kernels and older versions of software have been removed. Some of the improvements in OS4 OpenDesktop 13.3 are: over 300 application and system updates; Google Chrome 25; Linux kernel 3.2; Cheese webcam booth for webcam users; Google Voice web application which provides SMS and telephony services to OS4; disk utility to manage partitions and prepare partitions for installation.

The openSUSE release team has released RC2 to the mirrors a few hours ago. A large number of bugs have been fixed and a number of packages have been updated. Major changes include PulseAudio, the kernel and Firefox. This is the last opportunity to find and fix the last few bugs before the final release." Please do note that the openSUSE live images no longer fit on a 600 MB CD: "Starting with openSUSE 12.3, we have changed the structure of the live GNOME and KDE media. The live images are now designed to be written to, booted and installed from a USB disk rather than a CD; consequently, they are now about a GB each.

Linux Caixa Mágica 19 has been released. Linux Caixa Mágica is a Portuguese Linux distribution based on Ubuntu and featuring the latest GNOME 3 desktop with GNOME Shell. The most important features of this release are software updates to GNOME 3.6, LibreOffice 3.6.2, Linux kernel 3.5, Mozilla Firefox 19.0 and Google Chrome 24.0.1312.56, as well as a new version of the Portuguese citizen card software program with support for digital signatures of PDF files. Another interesting new feature is the introduction of Caixa Mágica TopApps, a one-click, web-based software installation tool. This version offers a possibility to upgrade directly from Caixa Mágica 18, while Wubi, a utility designed to install the distribution from Windows, is also available.
