Blogs emerge as resource in job hunts

With the weird market conditions, happening to read of a potential opening might lead one to an unadvertised position or at worse be an early applicant. Nonetheless, the signal to noise ratio could incrediblely low. So read on concentrating on the voices and topics that interest you and you just might get lucky. Otherwise take a speed reading course or two.

And forget those stories in the media about blogs, wikies, etc being a passing fancy those are the articulated hopes of the source that only wishes (and propaganda) could make it true.

Craigslist Lockout of Hotmail and Yahoo Enters Month 4 - Email Folies

Yahoo intermittently refused email from CraigsList. Hotmail nailed the world's largest classified advertising website to its blocklist. In response, CraigsList shut off subscription mail to them... kind of. Months later, CraigsList techs were still complaining of spasmodic delivery problems to the very services they claimed... and still claim... to have shut down. Email Battles takes a stab at sorting the whole mess out.

Where is the outrage as Oracle bids for open source?

Where is the outrage? Hey as you will be reading soon, from an informed source, some of the acquired properties are necessary for Oracle's survial due to its lack of functional tools. This does not seem, at least in some of the cases, to buy and bury. If Oracle went that route it might find they owned only a zombie whereas the Ghost was outside running wild and free.

To be fair, he does mention that true friend of open and free SAP is helping fund MySQL AB's search for alternative transaction support. This buying fenzy by Oracle may end in making it a friendlier supported of open and free. Patience, lets wait and see.

After moving to SUSE 10.0, I am quite satisfied.

How secure is open source?

Do open source systems provide a better way of preventing bugs, or are their developers just cultural elitists?

Firebug-- The King of Firefox Validators

Being 2006 and all, you would think it should be difficult to get excited about markup validation extensions for FireFox. Nevertheless, I have to say Joe Hewitt’s new offering Firebug has to be the most impressive new developer extension I’ve seen for a while (ok,ok,.. since IETab).
