Leader in Console Server Solutions recognized with Sun, Novell, Red Hat, as top open source company in the channel

SANDY, UT – January 27, 2009 - Opengear (www.Opengear.com), a leading provider of next-generation console server solutions, today announced that they had been named to the Open Source 50 and recognized as one of the top 25 open source companies in the channel.

The Open Source 50, a report compiled by Nine Lives Media and IT channel site TheVARGuy.com, takes variables such as overall partner ecosystem, percent of revenue derived from channel partners, and annual partner network growth to rank open source channel programs, selected the top 25 overall for their Best of the Best list, on which Opengear appeared at 18, along with companies such as Sun Microsystems, Novell and Red Hat.

"Opengear's inclusion as one of the Best of the Best is a sign of our commitment to our channel partners," said Bob Waldie, Founder and CEO of Opengear. "We expect 2009 to be a banner year for open source adoption and recognize that our channel program is a major part of our mission to bring open source to the console server market."

Opengear recently launched the Opengear Reseller Program for VARs, systems integrators and technology providers, offering sales and support tools, marketing resources and technical support, as well as an integrated partner portal. Offering 25% margins in a market where 3-5% is typical, Opengear expects to add more than 60 partners in 2009, doubling their reseller network.
