Ubuntu 11.10 Will Use Thunderbird as Default Mail Client

Yes, it is now official, Canonical decided to replace Evolution Email and Calendar with Mozilla Thunderbird as the default email client and calendaring software for the Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system.

Mike Conley proudly announced last evening (August 10th) on his blog that Canonical decided to use the popular Mozilla Thunderbird as the default e-mail client for the upcoming Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) operating system.

This is not really out of the blue, as Mozilla Thunderbird has been already set as the default email client on two Alpha development releases of Ubuntu 11.10.
