Commodore Vision OS was released today to the general public. It's based on Mint10 and very highly tweaked for a retro and fun feel. They pre-loaded much of the best of the open source software world, making it an extremely capable OS right off.

Although they only test and support it on their own hardware, being that it's based on Mint, it should work on any decent intel platform.

A word on emulation. They pre-install Virtual Box, WINE, e-UAE, and VICE. The two commodore emulators will not include ROM images on the public distribution. ROMs will only be pre-loaded on the OS on shipping commodore computers. So you will need to obtain or provide ROM images for the amiga or C64/128/pet that you want to emulate if you download the public .iso

They released via bittorrent, so expect a short download of the two DVD images if you have a fat pipe.

There's a download button right above the preview video on the site page. Take a moment to watch the video and then decide if you want to download it. I think you'll enjoy.
