KDE Plasma 5.8 Desktop Will Be an LTS Release for Stability and Performance

Now that some of us are already enjoying the newest KDE Plasma 5.7 desktop environment on our GNU/Linux operating systems, it's time to take a look at upcoming features of the next major version.

Yes, we're talking about KDE Plasma 5.8, about which ex-Kubuntu leader Jonathan Riddell had to said a few words today in a short blog post. According to Mr. Riddell, it would appear that the KDE development team started work on the KDE Plasma 5.8 desktop environment, which looks like it will be an LTS (Long Term Support) release.

We have to admit that we don't remember last time when we saw an LTS version of the KDE desktop environment, but it sounds awesome, especially that when we're talking about LTS software, we're talking about stability and reliability. And yes, KDE Plasma 5.8 LTS will be all about stability and performance, accompanied by the KDE Applications 16.08 software suite.
