How can 19,000 people spend a week in the desert talking about "bridging the Digital Divide" between the First World and the Third World and have nothing to say about open source?

How can 19,000 people spend a week in the desert talking about "bridging the Digital Divide" between the First World and the Third World and have nothing to say about open source? Or did the press just not pay attention (they even missed Richard Stallman in a tin foil hat, after all).
