Advanced Interoperability and Functionality Technology Now Available for Mainstream Consumer Electronics Equipment

MONTPELLIER, France, January 4 /PRNewswire/ -- With more than 2,500 exhibitors in venues across Las Vegas, the 2006 CES (the International Consumer Electronics Show) will once again be the world's definitive (and largest) consumer technology trade show. In particular, its "Innovations Plus" expo at the Sands Expo and Convention Center "launches the next milestone for consumer electronics", according to the Consumer Electronics Association. Among the TechZones making up Innovations Plus is that of the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), whose mission is "to improve the digital home by providing consumers with seamless interoperability between devices over the network, regardless of vendor, resulting in an easy, out-of-the-box experience using any device".

DLNA member company AwoX, a leading provider of home networking middleware and applications software that power the digital home is also exhibiting at the Sands Centre (booth number 70538), demonstrating its patented modular software and hardware reference design (ODM) for industry leaders, as well as the technologies (OEM) they produce for licensing to major manufacturers of televisions, decoders and DVD players. These can also be seen across the city at AwoX's partners' suites.

According to Alain Molinie, CEO of AwoX, "Showcasing with industry leaders such as TI, Thomson and Scott demonstrates AwoX's ability to deliver innovative home networking solutions, and to provide the dynamism and commitment to quality that our partners need. AwoX's modular technology offers the fast time-to-market, robustness and flexibility that give our partners a crucial edge in today's fast-moving markets."

The AwoX booth shows some impressive examples of this innovative home networking technology. These include AwoX control point middleware running on a Windows CE Smartphone; the AwoX mediaCTRL PCTV, using a single PC server but in addition rendering media available on DMA; and the new AwoX wireless digital media player based on Texas Instruments DaVinci DM6446. AwoX's unmatched porting capabilities can also be seen on two Thomson IP STBs, based on Intel x86/Linux and on a System On Chip featuring Linux with AwoX Music/Video/Picture Media Center middleware inside.

Further demonstrations will be showcased at AwoX's partners suites including Thomson-RCA, Texas Instruments and SCOTT.
