2006 Install Fest

Last weekend, April 15-16, 2006, the third Install Fest was organized by Free Software Macedonia, at the facilities of “Narodna Tehnika” in Skopje. This year’s edition, in addition to installation of free software for the visitors, indluded several other activities: workshops, lectures, debates...

The Install Fest is an event dedicated to installation of GNU/Linux operating system to personal computers, by trained personnel. In addition to GNU/Linux, the visitors of the festival were free to copy CD’s with application software packages.

The Festival also included several workshops for development of web-applications on free web-platforms, free software localizations and introction to Macedonian Wikipedia team.

In the evenings, debates and panel discussions were held on the topics of free software and software patents, copyrights and intellectual property, as well as implications that information society holds of all citizens.
