AMD64 on nVidia mainboards

Debian Developer Erich Schubert built a new and relatively cheap computer for his father, and he reports that he ran into problems with sound on that nForce-based motherboard.

Anyway, as a tip to Erich: visit the nVidia site and look for the nForce Linux drivers they offer. In case of problems, consult their forums - these guys are helpful, at least in my cases they always were. If you don’t want to taint your dad’s kernel, I can understand that, too - and you have our full support should you demand free and open source drivers for both your chipset as well as the graphics card. We as the users and customers demand these, too, and together we have a lot of power - we can vote & decide with our wallets, right?
