My brother Willi isn't a frequent blogger. But what he is, is a teacher/instructor for M$ OS and office software. Now he explains - in German - his experiences with Vista, compares it with Linux, and comes to the conclusion that everything looks pretty 'stolen' from a user's point of view. He is using Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on his Biostar barebone machine, and recently bought a HP laptop with Vista and Office.

Good Mourning, Windows (Hasta La) Vista (Baby)

Everything only stolen - History repeats itself

That Bill Gates made his first millions out of his first billions with a stolen DOS, should be common knowledge. My new conjuncture with Windows now shows changes to the operating system and to Office, which make one point clear pretty quick: Also stolen again!

This time his empire has "used" Linux. Many things in Vista remind me of my Linux-PC. And Office 2007 steals similar cavalierly from Open Office. But Mr. Gates / Microsoft may have done themselves a disservice in doing so. Because sooner or later, even a bumpkin will realize that he can get something similar for much fairer conditions. And then Microsoft will have a hard time telling "I'll be back!"

Terminate it!
