Microsoft Corp.'s settlement with Sun Microsystems Inc. includes a provision explicitly preserving the Redmond company's right to sue licensees of a free alternative to its dominant Microsoft Office software.

'OpenOffice can work with files created in Microsoft Office, and vice versa.'

Ermm... I have never seen M$ Office open OOo files. Has some change in office occurred to make this happen, can anyone update me on this? The only version of M$ office in my company is '97, so I can't realistically test this.

It doesn't. You *can* save OOo files in .DOC format, although you sometimes get strange errors. I don't think the author really thought about that statement before they wrote it.
