Should open source leaders go native?
Anthropologists who traveled to the jungle to study various tribes would debate (half jokingly) whether to "go native"—that is, whether to adopt the lifestyle of the people they were trying to understand, or to keep their distance (and scientific objectivity). How I Discovered Linux & Changed the World
In relation to the real accomplishments in the Linuxsphere, I was late to the party. In 2005, my three city network of business offices had been hacked and defaced. I had no idea of what to do. I was our local IT guy, but that ain’t sayin’ much. The buddy who set up our network was living in San Antonio at the time and I called him at 6:30 in the morning. I called him out of panic…I didn’t know what else to do.

One Port to Rule Them All!
I was chatting with Fred Richards on IRC the other day (flrichar on
freenode) about sneaking around hotel firewalls. Occasionally, hotels will
block things like the SSH port, hoping people don't abuse their network.
Although I can respect their rationale, blocking an SSH port for a Linux user
is like taking a mouse away from a Windows user!
