Just came across an english version of a presentation about the Linux migration project in Munich. You also might be interested to learn about its current status... http://www.muenchen.de/vip8/prod2/mde/_de/rubriken/Rathaus/4...

There's also this page which has the updated Migration Guide in pdf format, different from the above seemingly. http://www.kbst.bund.de/doc,-304105/Federal-Government-Co-or...

"This guide, originally released in 2003, is incredibly detailed offering assistance on a wide range of issues that could be faced in a migration from Windows to Linux. " from the slashdot post.

I had an interesting experience with this pdf. I wanted to convert it to text so I could put in my phone. Acrobat 7 for Linux wanted me to pay to upgrade first, xpdf, gpdf and pdf2html wouldn't oblige either. I asked someone else in the office on a Windows box to try on two programs and all the Edit menu entries were greyed out. Nothing seemed to work.

KOffice converted it in seconds without the slightest fuss.
