I have to agree with this article.
Ubuntu doesn't come close to the ease of use, guided install and plain simplicity that both PCLinuxOS and Mepis offer. For a brand new user who doesn't have a "friend that can" a live CD with (optional) easy installer is perfect. And I do agree that distros aiming for the new user market need to take this model seriously. For the immediate future it's the ideal way to get people to have a go. |
