Read the original interview where this got mentioned. Another of those great headlines that significantly misleads.

I particularly found that the author did not grasp that the kernel version is not locked to a 0-9 convention humorous. There is nothing saying that the kernel can not reach version 2.6.1024.210r700 for example, although .210r700 is so unlikely as to be ludicrous. Seeing 2.6.1024-10 is entirely feasible.
