I can't imagine how it feels to be done with such a project. I'll be buying a copy (sometime). I want to increase my knowledge of networking from zero to a little more than zero.

Thank you, thank you, and I bow modestly. Even to the resident smart farts :)

You can check out a free chapter at http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596102487/ 'Building a Linux Wireless Access Point'. My fave chapter and they're giving it away. It covers sane local DHCP/DNS, proper authentication and encryption, and other kewl things I forget now.

azerthoth, yes indeedy, or you can save some clams and I'll mail you a signed bookplate you can stick in the book.

@TC

You have an extra comma (,) at the end of the link causing "404 Not Found" erroe. Here is a good link.

lol herzeleid :)

I should have written how to turn it off, since most distributions turn it on by default, but nothing supports it so it's wasted anyway, and I wonder about it being a potential security hole. Just like Bluetooth- always on by default, though the majority of users don't need it.

Yes, but I've been wanting to play with using it on purpose, and I fear I don't entirely "get" it.

Oh, yes, you're right DrDubious. Hmm, that might be a good fit for the second edition of the Linux Cookbook. (coming out next year! warm up your wallets!)
