Surely though, on Cuba's priority list... if you had: a) something free as in freedom b) something American c) something not American ... they would likely have option c higher on their list, even if it happens to be something encapsulated by option a |

It would be interesting to see how Windows ended up on those computers. Not to start a tin foil beanie campaign, I notice that the article states that among all the commercial products that are now available to the Cuban consumer, the PC was last to appear short of the black market. I would expect the black market PC's to have windows on them, but a socialist state sanctioned PC? Mind you it is just as simple as making the assumption that ignorance rather than "marketing" is at the heart of the matter. |

You guys are overlooking something. If you don't want consumers to have computers, what better way to achieve that than to give them Windows? That way Cubans will _voluntarily_ not own computers. It would have been a particularly effective strategy if they had been Vista machines. |
