I've just upgraded my home Ubuntu box from Natty to Precise and installed MATE 1.2 and everything looks good.

I've been holding back for some time now waiting to see what will work for my family.

So two distribution upgrade steps from Natty to Precise and installed Mate from PPA and it all seems to work fine.

The only difference that I can see so far is that the logout panel apps are a bit different from what we had before and I had to re-setup all my theme, wallpaper and panel shortcuts. Took me just a few minutes and all done. Oh, and the session login manager looks a bit different.

Al in all, a rather painless experience and I'm happy that my family don't have to completely relearn their desktop experience.

Why Ubuntu you may ask? Well we've been using it for a few years now and I've have no reason to change, as simple as that.

May I take the opportunity to offer my sincere thanks to the MATE developers for such a superb effort!
