File under helpful hints.

Just recently I was asked to open and save as something else a bunch of files with .wri file extensions.

This is an old, apparently unsupported, file type Microsoft used to use on their old Windows Write "word processor".

If you don't have an application that will open it, change the file extension from .wri to .rtf then open it with LibreOffice. The file is in reality a Rich Text Format file, with a different file extension that confuses applications that look at the file extension for a clue as to the way the file is formated.

That should be in mime-types.
