In general, the world is not opposed to paying for software and services. However, in Oracle's case, they have built themselves a "lack of trust" reputation now. And when you lose the people's trust, they will reconsider their options.

There is also this teensy problem of Oracle doesn't want to be paid for its wares and services, it wants to be paid a freakin' bloody fortune.

Let's face it,... Oracle wants to be paid a "tax" for inventing corporate enterprise computing. Trouble is; A) they're not entitled to it, & B) they didn't invent the bloody thing in the first place.
