Hi Dave, If performance is really a big issue for you, you might consider Opera. It's written in assembly and is the fastest major browser. Although I can't really comment much on the Linux version, because I don't know what windowing extensions it used and even if I did I'd still be talking about things I don't know much about, because I'm a Win32 user. Mine is a matter of principles. It's been said many times, by many folks, that the last thing we need is another proprietary web browser running the show. I'm most excited about Gecko (and, to a lesser extent, KHTML) because nobody controls it.

I'm not interested in Opera in the slightest for this singular reason.
