Lubuntu 12.10 is now available. Features: based on the lightweight LXDE desktop environment; PCManFM, a fast and lightweight files manager; Openbox, the fast and extensible, default window manager of LXDE; LightDM, using the simple GTK+ greeter; Chromium, the open-source version of Google Chrome. Improvements since Lubuntu 12.04: update of the visual identity of Lubuntu, including a completely new icon theme, a new wallpaper and improvements to the current theme, a selection of community wallpapers, and Improved integration of many applications with the new artwork. A new version of the session manager is available, including more customizations and integration options.

The Xubuntu team is glad to announce the immediate release of Xubuntu 12.10, code-named Quantal Quetzal. Xubuntu 12.10 will be supported for 18 months. New features: Xfce 4.10; completely rewritten offline documentation; in the application menu, all settings-related launchers are now grouped under the Settings Manager; updated artwork, including new wallpaper, documentation looks and updates to LightDM, Greybird and Ubiquity slideshow; new versions of Catfish and Parole.

Slackel KDE 14.0 has been released. A collection of four KDE ISO images are immediately available, including 32-bit and 64-bit installation images as well as 32-bit and 64-bit live images that can be burned to a DVD or used with a USB drive. The software included in live images is exactly the same as that present in the standard Slackel KDE 14.0 installation DVDs. The Slackel live DVD images includes Linux kernel 3.2.29 and were built using SaLT (Salix Live Technology). Slackel KDE 14.0 includes the stable 14.0 tree of Slackware Linux and KDE 4.8.5 accompanied by a very rich collection of KDE-centric software.

After several months of rescheduling we think it's time to let this new jet fly. As many of you might already be aware of, our first Mandriva Linux 2012 alpha has been ready for release for almost a week now, yet it only made its way to the public mirrors today, so with that I declare it as officially released! Some of the highlights since 2012 Tech Preview include: faster, smaller and much improved installer; installer text-mode is now working again; a slimmer, much-improved and fixed rescue mode; dual architecture CD image has been improved with a more complete set of packages filling it and also LXDE now shipped with it and installed by default

Hanthana Linux 17 (Sithija) is released. Hanthana Linux 17, the latest release of Hanthana was published on the 3rd anniversary of the Hanthana Linux project. In addition to the host of applications, the new release has the official LibreOffice guide provided by The Document Foundation added as well. Hanthana Linux is not just another Fedora respin. As a project it facilitates the deployment of free and open-source software amongst the every-day PC user as well as the localization of FOSS software and documentation, and it provides training workshops as well.

Bodhi 2.1.0 Screenshot Tour

There are a number of wonderful changes and improvements to this disc over our 2.0.1 disc released a couple of months ago. The first thing you will notice is four fresh themes along with the elegant E17 Black and White theme appearing on this version of Bodhi's live CD. We have a fresh build of Enlightenment and Terminology pre-installed on the disc. Beyond that our repositories contain the latest LibreOffice 3.6.1, Firefox 15 and Chromium 21 among a number of other current applications. The default kernel for this release is based on Linux 3.5.
