Oracle is pleased to announce the general availability of Oracle Linux 6.3 for x86 (32-bit) and x86_64 (64-bit) architectures. Oracle Linux 6.3 ships with two sets of kernel packages: Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (kernel-uek 2.6.39), installed and booted by default; Red Hat Compatible Kernel (kernel-2.6.32), installed by default. By default, both the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel and the Red Hat Compatible Kernel are installed.

Saluki 022 was released. Saluki Linux is a new Puppy-based distribution (or, more precisely, a distribution built from Puppy's Woof build system). It is primarily designed for developers who wish to create highly customised solutions or specialist distributions, but it can be used as a standalone operating system as well. It features the Xfce desktop environment.

Toorox 03.2012 KDE Screenshot Tour

A new version of the KDE edition has been finished. Toorox 03.2012 contains the Linux kernel 3.2.2-gentoo and the recent desktop environment, KDE 4.8.1. All packages are up-to-date. The nm-applet was replaced by the KDE NetworkManager for your network connections. Also contains: X.Org Server 1.11.4, Mesa 8.0.1, IceCat 10.0.1, WINE 1.4, VLC 2.0, LibreOffice 3.4.5, Audacious 3.2.1, Mixxx 1.10.0. Major change: Toorox now supports 11 languages: German, English, Czech, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Romanian, Russian and Turkish. Toorox 03.2012 'KDE' is available now in the download area as 32-bi and 64-bit variants.

Today sees the release of Legacy OS 4 Mini, an update for TEENpup 2010 Mini Beta. Those updating from TEENpup 2010 Mini will need to save any important documents, music, etc. to an external hard drive or USB stick as a full reinstall is required to update to this new version. This release sees TEENpup 2010 Mini re-branded to Legacy OS 4 Mini. Users now have a choice between Legacy OS 2 (Puppy series 2-based) and Legacy OS 4 Mini (Puppy series 4-based) depending on hardware requirements.

openSUSE 12.2 Milestone 2 Screenshot Tour

The Zorin OS team is proud to finally release Zorin OS 6 Lite, the latest evolution of the Zorin OS Lite series of operating systems, designed specifically for Windows users using old or low-powered hardware. This release is based on Lubuntu 11.10 and uses the LXDE desktop environment to provide one of the fastest and most feature-packed interfaces for low-specification machines. New features and refinements include a more lightweight version of the Software Center which makes it much easier to install applications in Zorin OS Lite and update programs.

Bodhi 1.4.0 Screenshot Tour

JoldzicOS 3.31 Screenshot Tour

JoldzicOS 3.31 is now available. The Joldzic Network is proud to announce the release of it's largest scale project, JoldzicOS 3. JoldzicOS 3.31 "Patricia" Live has been under development for over a year now, and is finally ready to enter the market in beta form. The Operating System was released as a beta, and is a standard home or work desktop/laptop OS. The OS currently only supports x86 processors as PPC is no longer popular. JoldzicOS was built on the same base system as Linux Mint 10 "Katya" (which is based off of Ubuntu), but features major differences in the user interface. The OS is to have support for it's own application format, as well as support for all Linux/Unix applications, all Ubuntu/Debian packages and applications, and most Windows applications right off the bat.

The Linux Mint team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 12 LXDE. Linux Mint 12 LXDE comes with updated software and brings refinements and new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use. This is the first release of Linux Mint using hybrid ISO images. Traditionally, tools such as 'Startup Disk Creator' or 'UNetbootin' were needed to install Linux Mint via USB. With hybrid images, you can simply use the 'dd' command or a graphical front-end to make a bootable USB which acts exactly like a live DVD.

With a 40% improvement in boot speed and a complete redesign of the default desktop, the distribution incorporates the latest free software technologies, such as GNOME Shell, which provides for a more productive working environment while allowing high levels of customisation thanks to a multitude of extensions downloadable from the Internet. Most applications included in the default install have been upgraded to newer versions.
