When I was young child, my family lived in New Delhi, India. My dad worked for UNICEF, and every summer our family would head up to the Himalayan mountains to escape New Delhi's scorching heat. Since launching the The Open Organization in June, I've received questions about why we chose to distribute the book via a traditional publisher. Some have wondered why we didn't release the book with a Creative Commons license so people could remix, redistribute, and even translate the book as they wanted. I often get teased for taking so much tech hardware with me on trips—right up until the Wi-Fi at the hotel, conference center or rented house fails. I'm currently on vacation with my family and some of our friends from Florida, and our rental home has a faulty Wi-Fi router. Thankfully, I have a bag full of goodies for just this occasion.

Oracle's Virtual Box is one of the easiest to use virtual machines that run under Linux. Although we Linux users have reasons not to use Oracle's products, the particular piece of software is maybe the best choice we can make in that area and at least it's open source. If you want to use other free software alternatives to Oracle's VM, you can check VMware Workstation, QEMU, or GNOME Boxes (currently works only on Fedora).
