The LXLE project is a Lubuntu-based distribution which attempts to be very light on resources while also improving support for older hardware.

I'm pleased to announce the release of gNewSense 3.1. This is a minor update to the current stable version with code name 'Parkes'. These are the most important changes: the correct country-specific package repository (instead of the beta one) is set at installation time; NetworkManager is included on the live image by default; the expert installer no longer suggests to install Debian's non-free repository.

The Debian project is pleased to announce the fourth update of its stable distribution Debian 7 (codename wheezy). This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the stable release, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available.

The Zorin OS team has released Zorin OS 8 Educational, the education-oriented edition of our operating system designed for new Linux users. We have introduced a myriad of changes in Zorin OS including updated software, improvements to the user interface and entirely new software. As always, Zorin OS 8 uses the Zorin Desktop environment with Zorin Menu for unparalleled customization and the Zorin Look Changer for ultimate ease of use.

Chakra is a user-friendly and powerful distribution and live CD based on Arch Linux. It features a graphical installer, automatic hardware detection and configuration, the latest KDE desktop, and a variety of tools and extras.

This is an update to version 5.5 "Wolx" released in November 2013. It is primarily designed for those users who preferred the simplicity and familiarity of the 4.x series of Toutou Linux. Compared to the 4.x series, several applications have been replaced, notably the SeaMonkey 2.21 browser which has become too heavy for a lightweight distribution (30 MB compressed and 51 MB when decompressed). It has been replaced by Opera 12.16 (14 MB compressed and 26 MB once decompressed).

SparkyLinux 'Xfce' has a few new features which will also be added to the next SparkyLinux release. So what is under the hood? Linux kernel 3.12; all packages upgraded from Debian's testing repositories as of 2014-01-29; Xfce 4.10; the same set of tools and applications which can be found in all SparkyLinux spins; added a boot-repair tool; added Plymouth with a Sparky theme; the uGet download manager has been upgraded from Debian's 'Sid' repository, it uses aria2 for downloading files as default.

Major new features: updates to RPM 4.11 and urpmi, which has been given a thorough Mageia turnout and cleanup; Linux kernel 3.12 and systemd 208; GRUB is the default bootloader, GRUB 2 is available for testing; revamped package groupings for installation and rpmdrake; KDE 4.11, GNOME 3.10 and Xfce 4.10 desktops; LibreOffice 4.1.3; experimental UEFI support; FullHD+ resolution support.

Major differences from Scientific Linux 6.4: OpenAFS has been updated to version 1.6.5.1 from openafs.org - this package may have some issues, please note there is a possibility for system panic under certain conditions; alpine 2.10 - updated to more recent version (from Fedora); yum-autoupdate-2 6.3 - bug fixes for extra, useless reporting, remove the obsolete augeas lense.

We have introduced a myriad of changes in Zorin OS including updated software, improvements to the user interface and entirely new software. Zorin OS 8 includes a simpler and more beautiful music player, the Empathy instant messaging client as well as the Zorin theme changer. We have created a beautiful new dark theme in complement to a new and improved light theme. We have created a simple tool to switch between the two quickly and easily. We have revamped the look of the bootloader so that switching between operating systems looks better than ever. As always, Zorin OS 8 uses the Zorin desktop environment with Zorin Menu for unparalleled customization.

Oikyo Linux 1.0 is available. Oikyo Linux is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution that comes with three desktop environments (Unity, KDE and GNOME) on the installation media. It comes with some visual effects that make it even better than just preinstalled softwares. It's designed so that you don't have to be an expert to use the OS.

Gigastrand OS 1.0 is available. Gigastrand has a vision of a purpose-built operating system that appeals to a wide-variety of people and aids Windows and MAC users in the transition to Linux. Ubuntu, Linux Mint and others have done a beautiful job of creating an OS that appeals to most of what Gigastrand sets out to do - but not everything. The areas that we feel Linux Mint does not cover are areas for improvement and areas that fit well into the Gigastrand model.

This release brings many important performance-related changes, such as systemd as the default init system, a new desktop-optimized kernel and compressed memory. Also, we have rewritten our menu builder. With this release, the central part of the system, the menu, is faster than ever. Other noteworthy changes are the support to window snapping and an easy-to-use tool to add launchers to the panel.

New ISO images include the latest update pack: KDE has been updated to version 4.12.1; LibreOffice has been updated to version 4.1.4; Firefox has been updated to version 26.0 and Thunderbird to version 24.2.0; these community packages were added to the community repository - grub-customizer, kdeconnect, plasma-mediacenter, xfce-theme-manager, xfwm4compositeeditor.

In this release we bring you the first Linux Lite packages, Lite Software Center and Lite User Manager. There is a host of new features, including the 3.8 kernel from the Hardware Enablement Stack for better hardware support, new install scripts for webcams, a PAE kernel installer (32-bit) and a basic Games Pack installer. There is also now an option to add the Whisker Menu to the taskbar. This release also sneaks in at under CD size.

CrunchPwn 0.1a is available. CrunchPwn is a newer lightweight, Debian-based distribution designed to be used in penetration testing.

RusDeb 1.01 is available. RusDeb is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution made in Russia. It uses the MATE desktop and has a focus on performance and stability.

Linux Educacional 5.0 is available. Linux Educational is a government-sponsored project based in Brazil. The distribution comes with educational tools and is designed for use in schools.

Korora was born out of a desire to make Linux easier for new users, while still being useful for experts. The main goal of Korora is to provide a complete, easy-to-use system for general computing. Originally based on Gentoo Linux in 2005, Korora was re-born in 2010 as a Fedora Remix with tweaks and extras to make the system "just work" out of the box.

Gajj 0.1 is available. Gajj is an open source Linux Operating System which is based on Ubuntu and Linux Mint Distributions. Gajj is an academic project to motivate students and beginners towards Linux.
