Linode Enters High-Performance Cloud Hosting Market with SSD, RAM Updates

Cloud hosting provider Linode has relaunched its services with a $45M investment in SSD storage, more memory, better CPUs and other high-performance upgrades for its cloud infrastructure.

Are SSD storage, gobs of memory and more CPU power enough for a smaller player in the cloud computing industry to unseat the likes of Rackspace (RAX) and Amazon Web Services? Linode, the hosting provider previously known for its Linux-based virtual personal server (VPS) offerings, thinks so, and has announced a $45 million investment to overhaul its cloud services toward this end.
