LXer Feature: 21-Oct-2006

LXer will begin posting German-language articles to the newswire.

You will soon see articles in German on the newswire, interspersed among the English articles. This effort to expand LXer's German readership is in line with our global audience and sponsorship from German groups. Approximately 45% of our audience is from outside the United States. We will be watching the growth of the German audience with an eye toward adding new languages for readers in other countries.

The German articles will be original materials published through LXer as well as links to external German news sites carrying news about GNU/Linux and Free/Open Source Software. To help smooth the integration of German articles into LXer's newswire, German articles will have German discussion threads. English articles will retain their English discussion threads.

We are pleased to announce that one of our regular readers, Wolfgang Lonien, will be working as a Contributing Editor to provide content in German. LXer regulars know Wolfgang well as a Debian user. Wolfgang's blog posts have been featured occasionally on LXer's newswire. You can read more about Wolfgang on our team page.
