I've been going through some rounds with Asus tech support/customer service the last couple of months. Two RMA's and a brand new unit later, I have resolved the issue. I must admit it is a slightly embarrassing fix. It is a true example of making a mountain out of a mole hill in the technology industry.

The Linux Foundation has mailed users of the Linux.com and LinuxFoundation.org sites informing them that they discovered a security breach on 8 September which "may have compromised your username, password, email address and other information". The Foundation says that it believes the breach is connected to the security breach at kernel.org at the start of September.

This morning I shared some initial battery power consumption results for Ubuntu 11.10 from three different mobile devices. Next Tuesday at XDC2011 Chicago I am hosting a Q&A panel about contributing to X.Org and open-source projects, where the panel participants are largely comprised of well known X.Org and Mesa developers that began contributing while at university. In hopes of sparking new contributors to these key open-source projects, computer science students from the major Chicago universities have been invited to attend this panel discussion and anyone else wishing to learn more about open-source development.
