I find if you repeat the following phrase 500 times a day:

"Systemd is my friend"
"Systemd is my friend"
"Systemd is my friend"
....

You won't attack it nearly as much... why? Because it is your friend!!

Let's face it... Linux is just a kernel... whereas systemd is a "system"... and of course.... your friend!!

Just the other day I was throwing a frisbee to my dog... he missed and low and behold, systemd caught it!!

Man's (new) best friend.

init-v, and all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
oh, I believe in init-v

Suddenly, it's half the OS it used to be There's a daemon hanging over me Oh, systemd came suddenly.

Why sysv had to go? I don't know, they wouldn't say I did something wrong Now I long for init-v.

with init-v, linux was an easy game to play Now I need a place to slack away Oh, I believe in init-v.

Yes, its coterie and hangers-on are eminently mockable.

Actually,... It's because after saying that 500 times a day, you have less time to attack it...

@JaseP, maybe it would be 10,000 times a day!!

Of course, that might suggest something more intimate than friendship.....

Well, my impression of systemd is that something far more intimate than friendship is what's coming.

And it's what Poettering et al. are intending.
